Campaign Tips From Jay Townsend
With the new state senate and assembly districts inNew York have finally been revealed now seems like good time to put forth some basic campaign tips for those contemplating a run for office. And who better to get those tips from than Jay Townsend.
Jay Towsend, the Republican nominee in 2010 for U.S. Senate, and political consultant has a website where he passes along great tips on how to run a successful campaign. Some of the tips are obvious and some a little less so.
- Know the Rules about Getting on the Ballot.
- Don’t Try to Be Someone you are Not.
- Hone your Elevator Pitch and keep it to less than 30 seconds.
- Your campaign strategy will be determined by three things. Your Resources. Your Opponent. The Political Environment.
- Know your opponent. Seems simple enough yet, as Jay mentions, far too many campaigns ignore doing opposition research.
This is just a short list of some of the basics. The website is updated every couple of days with some observation about a campaign or a tip to help you be a better candidate.
